YOUR QUESTIONS
Our Answers
How can I get access to the Low Power Network?
The best way is to contact a Swisscom LPN representative at (M2M.SPOC@swisscom.com) or attend one of our Bootcamps.
What communication options and data rate does the network provide?
The network supports uni and bi-directional communication with a dynamic bitrate adaptation from 300bps to 11kbps, which saves batteries and airtime whenever possible.
What are the target applications for the LPN?
The Low Power Network is ideal for battery powered sensors and devices in the area of Smart City, Asset Tracking, Building Management and Agriculture applications.
What are the main differences between LPN and the traditional cellular communication (2G/3G/4G)?
Traditional Cellular (2G/3G/4G) | LPN | |
---|---|---|
Data Rate | High | Low |
Energy consumption | High | Low |
Communication Module Costs | High | Low |
What are the security mechanism for the LPN network?
Sensor information is encrypted with AES 128 so the operator network serves as an opaque transport layer between the smart sensor and an application server. There are also separate integrity and encryption secrets which ensures that each device shares a unique network secret with the network.
Where can I find the API documentation?
The documentation is available in the Developer Portal.
